Friday 52 Project {30/52} | MOTION

Well folks, here is my first entry into the 52 Project!

The theme for this week is MOTION.

My dog Oakley loves to roll in the grass every time she gets outside so I just set the camera’s shutter speed real slow and let her roll & shake!

I was amazed at the results with this trick and really like the end product!

Isn’t photography fun!?!

Please feel free to comment below and also take some time to check out another fantastic pet photographer Dana Cubbage’s website to see what she did for this project!

Friday Feature…52 Project | Aussie Dog Photography

Head’s up people! I am writing 2 posts in one day!!!

The “52 PROJECT”

I am so excited!
I just joined a group of pet photographers around the globe that are currently involved in a 52 week project (hence the name “52 project”).

Although I joined mid-stream, I will now be posting my interpretation of each week’s assignment every Friday morning.

What?!? You mean you might actually blog EVERY WEEK? Yup! I am gonna!  (And for those of you out there who gave me the big booyah/smackdown to get moving on this blog stuff again…thank you!!!! Your inspirations and votes of confidence where what was needed for me to get back into the swing of things and this 52 PROJECT commitment will be the first of many that will take me and my business somewhere besides the lazyboy recliner :-)   )

So the 52 Project will be posted every Friday from here on till it’s conclusion!

Also there will be links to other pet photographers who are participating in the group at the end of my blog post so please be sure to give them a “look-see” too!

Ok I now need a nap after all this writing!

See y’all Friday!

Meet Oakley | Aussie Dog Photography

For those of you that know me well, you know that I love Australian Cattle Dogs (ACD) and my business was named Aussie Dog Photography because of that fact and as a tribute to my last Cattle Dog, Jake (who passed away in 2003). And since then, I always perk up and smile whenever I see a cattle dog walking his owners, in the back of a pickup, working livestock or on TV. Yeah, I am an ACD junkie :-)

Recently I retired from the US Air Force and decided I finally have time to have another dog in my life. Over the last 2 years I frequently visited the Texas Cattle Dog Rescue website;   http://texascattledogrescue.com/ to see those needing homes and wishing I could adopt one. Well for some reason the great powers that be sent me to the website on this fateful day. The VERY FIRST listing I came across was an adorable 9 year old deaf girl named Oakley. When I read that she’d been abused, had special needs and needed a good and loving home, I immediately responded to her ad.

I know that not many adopt older dogs, but after reading her story, I knew I was the one who could make her few remaining years on this earth her best ones! So that Saturday, without a second thought, I headed to Bastrop Texas to meet her at her foster family’s home.  When Oakley came out to meet me, she walked right up to me without prompting and licked me on the cheek! Love at first site! Right then and there I knew we were meant to be companions and I adopted her on the spot!

She was very shy and reserved for the first weeks and now, every day, more and more, the Cattle Dog spirit in her comes out and shines! So here she is! At the park, in the creek, chilling at a BBQ!

ONE Happy Dog with a Happy Human!!!

She is the new mascot of Aussie Dog Photography and believe me, you will be seeing a lot more of her from here on!

YAY!

She is now happy, healthy and pampered to the “Nth” degree!

Schatzie | Aussie Dog Photography

Anyone who lives in Texas knows we have had one toasty summer this year. After a few minutes getting used to me and my camera, this cute little mini schnauzer and I recently endured the August Texas heat (for about 5 minutes) to get some outdoor shots to complete the session. Neither of us were feeling like running in yard so we immediately found the shade and flopped down. Luckily for me, she tolerated me and my camera just long enough to get some adorable images! She is cute as a button and I am so thankful we got to know each other!
